Princeton's Hurricane Matthew Relief Page

In the nation's service & the service of humanity.

Thank you for working alongside the Princeton University team and Partners In Health to build the movement for the right to health. Together, we are engaged with a network of dedicated volunteer teams across the country working to demand that the right to health be protected for all people, everywhere.

This page is in honor of the 16 staff members of Wilson College who have families in Haiti personally affected by Hurricane Matthew. There are countless families like those of these staff whom we would like to honor as well by helping provide relief regarding Hurricane Matthew.

Hurricane Matthew has razed homes, washed away 80% of crops in the south, dirtying water and spreading cholera at drastic rates, and has killed over 1000 people in Haiti. More than 1 million people have lost homes, crops, livestock, and even family members.

Cholera has likely sickened 1,400 people since Hurricane Matthew crashed into Haiti's shores. The storm contaminated crucial drinking water and razed 34 cholera treatment units, spiking the epidemic while making health care even more scarce. Today, 1,250,000 Haitians -- including a half-million children -- have no safe water. They live in grave danger of cholera and other illnesses.

Countless families have no homes, no food, and no clean water. Over 1.4 million people in Haiti are in need of humanitarian aid, according to the United Nations.

Families from Les Cayes and surrounding communities need a functional hospital urgently, after the region's only functional public hospital has been badly damaged and is ill-prepared for the overwhelming need. They are fighting a sudden uptick in starvation, tetanus, cholera, and other diarrheal diseases -- all ailments PIH can help to treat. Hence, PIH has committed to supporting Les Cayes hospital with staff, supplies, electricity, and basic necessities to save lives.

Your gift supports hospitals like Les Cayes and sends PIH teams to Haiti's worst-hit regions. Your gift brings clean water, sanitation supplies, and urgent care that can stop cholera in its tracks. Your gift provides basic health care for the nation's poorest, most vulnerable families. Please send relief to hurricane victims with a gift.

We can work together to make a difference.
