This Mother’s Day, your gift helps provide essential maternal care in the world’s most vulnerable communities. ## Maternal health doesn't end at delivery Across the world, millions of women are sent home after giving birth with no follow-up. In fact, most maternal deaths happen after delivery—in what’s known as the “fourth trimester.” This crisis is rooted in inequality. While some mothers get weeks of rest and follow-up care, others face deadly complications alone. At Partners In Health, we believe no mother should be left behind. Together with your support, we’re fighting for maternal care that’s compassionate, comprehensive, and lifesaving. ## The Maternal Center of Excellence In Kono, Sierra Leone—where 1 in 20 women die in pregnancy or childbirth—we’re building a state-of-the-art teaching hospital to make maternal mortality a thing of the past.  - The 166-bed facility will be complete with a NICU, surgical suites, and simulation labs. - Equity-minded clinicians will be trained using never-before-available clinical education opportunities, saving lives for generations to come. - 65% of the construction team are women, changing the lives of women before the hospital is even opened. ## Related Stories No woman should die bringing life into the world.
