(Mpho Marole / PIH).* When PIH first started treating TB patients, the global health establishment wasn’t convinced that patients in low- and middle-income countries—the patients who suffer the most—were worth saving. They said even attempting to treat them was too costly and too complicated.   **But we rejected that status quo**. We treated those patients anyway—regardless of cost or complication—because no life is worth less than another.
