Volunteer to help construct Mirebalais Hospital

Some of the work that needs to be done is not common in Haiti, and we would like American tradespeople to help build and teach their Haitian counter parts their skills and techniques.

We are in need of skilled tradespeople including: carpenters, painters plumbers, welders/metalworkers, electricians, medical equipment installers and biomedical technicians to volunteer with PIH to help build the Mirebalais hospital.

Volunteer Details and Requirements

Time period of volunteer need: January 2012 - April 2012
Expenses: PIH will provide all in country expenses including travel, food, board and transportation
Volunteer Commitment: Minimum of 7 days (Sunday to following Sunday), 14 days preferable

Disclaimer: Volunteers must be in general good health, have all required vaccinations for Haiti, and have a valid passport. Volunteers must have a willingness to volunteer for a minimum of 8 days, to live in clean but very simple conditions (electricity and running water), and to eat very basic but sanitary local food and purified water. Must have an openness to working with people from a different culture. All volunteers must attend a one-hour volunteer orientation and security briefing and sign required paperwork prior to departure. Additional information is available upon request.
