In Memory of Jessica Redfield & those who died in Aurora

In memory of those who left us far too soon.

Today is an awful day. We're all experiencing pain and confusion, and those feelings won't go away any time soon.

This charity effort isn't an attempt to wash away those feelings; it's just one small way to try to channel a little of our grief and sadness into something that might benefit others.

I ask you to join me in support of Partners In Health. While the staggering problems of poverty, hunger and disease often seem so overwhelming that we don't know where to begin, together we can take action to support poor communities in Haiti, Rwanda, and other places around the world.

Partners In Health focuses on the individual patients -- doing whatever it takes to break the cycle of poverty and disease for every person and every community they serve. Every life matters, or in Haitian Kreyol, "tout moun se moun" -- every person is a person.

The money raised through this page will go towards treating vicious diseases like malaria and tuberculosis, building homes for poor families, helping farmers increase their crops, and treating malnutrition in children.

For those living on less than a dollar a day, no amount of support is too small -- $5 can make all the difference.

Rest in peace, Jessica Redfield (whose real name was Jessica Ghawi). We send our love and our prayers to all the families of the victims in Aurora.

Edited to add: Jessica Redfield/Jessica Ghawi was not involved in this charity, nor am I in contact with her family. This charity drive is just an idea that came to me on July 20. Thanks.
