Nick Update 5/19/12 I reached my fundraising goal and earned $20 to donate to Partners in Health. I did heavy duty weeding and other chores to earn this money. Thank you to everybody who helped donate. It will help a lot of people receive medical care. My wax museum presentation is on Monday the 21st. I will be giving out information about Partners in Health at my table so that others can learn about the work that they do. Thanks again for your support. From, Nick ***** Hi Friends and Family I am doing a school report on Jim Yong Kim, the newly elected presdent of the World Bank. One of Dr Kim's greatest accomplishments is co-founding Partners in Health, an organization that provides medical care and fights poverty in poor countries. As part of my project, I am trying to raise $100 to help in this fight. For every $5 that I raise to $100, I will contribute $1, which I am earning by doing yardwork and extra chores. While the staggering problems of poverty, hunger and disease often seem so overwhelming that we don't know where to begin, I am taking action to support poor communities in Haiti, Rwanda, and other places around the world. Partners In Health focuses on the individual patients -- doing whatever it takes to break the cycle of poverty and disease for every person and every community they serve. Every life matters, or in Haitian Kreyol, "tout moun se moun" -- every person is a person. The money raised through this page will go towards treating vicious diseases like malaria and tuberculosis, building homes for poor families, helping farmers increase their crops, and treating malnutrition in children. For those living on less than a dollar a day, no amount of support is too small -- $5 can make all the difference.
