Welcome to our fundraising page...Our event was a great success but you still have an opportunity to contribute now... To Haiti with Love Dance Benefit raises over $11,000 Amidst hand-painted banners, handcrafts, a plethora of donated auction items from local businesses, delicious desserts, and the vibe of Richard Curzis band, Positive Energy, over 200 people came out on the eve of Valentines Day for To Haiti with Love at The First Church in Belmont, raising over $11,000 to benefit Partners in Health. It was a magical evening, said Nancy McCabe, event coordinator, everything fell into place after just three short weeks of whirlwind planning. People were moved to volunteer and donate - its a testament to the power of purpose and teamwork to bring about a positive outcome. Positive Energy kept the beat with funky pop music for dancers of all ages. The evening had many highlights, including the surprise guest appearance of singer/songwriter Livingston Taylor, who came out to watch fellow Berklee College of Music colleague Roger Brown play the drums. Taylor took to the stage and sang two original ballads to the delight of attendees. A hush came over the hall when Haitian native Gifrants, who has dedicated his life to preserving and developing Haitian music, shared his sentiments of his homeland and sang for the crowd. In addition to entertainment, insights and observations of the relief activity taking place in Haiti were brought home by Linda Mason, Belmont resident and Mercy Corps board chair. Having just returned from a trip to Haiti, Mason shared a slideshow of life in the camps and spoke from the heart about the hopeful and resilient spirit of the people she met.
Thanks to all who attended, helped out, donated, and cheered us on!
When a Person in Peru, or Siberia, or rural Haiti falls ill, PIH uses all of the means at our disposal to make them well… Whatever it takes. Just as we would do if a member of our own family—or we ourselves—were ill. |
