The Belmont Day School community raised over $1,200 for Haiti relief efforts during the school's annual students vs. faculty basketball game in March. Spearheaded by boys' basketball coach and sixth grade teacher Dean Spencer, members of the BDS community were asked to pledge a dollar amount for every point the students scored against the faculty. In a game that was eventually won by the faculty, it was the students who were the real winners, netting 29 points against their formidable opponents. Typically, the game is an exciting culmination to the winter season for middle school basketball players and their coaches. This year, however, the entire BDS community rallied behind Mr. Spencer’s desire to help and created a joyous and festive afternoon that will not be soon forgotten.
