A Reading by Haitian-American Writer & Novelist, Edwidge Danticat

A 2009 MacArthur Fellow, Edwidge Danticat has written several critically acclaimed nonfiction and fiction books, including Krik? Krak! (National Book Award finalist), Brother, I'm Dying (winner, National Book Critics Circle Award for Autobiography), and Create Dangerously. Born in Port-au-Prince, the Haitian-American writer and novelist moved to the United States at age 12. She has become a national and international spokesperson for the plight of Haiti.

The sponsors of this cultural event hope to raise funds to support Haiti. Proceeds will be donated to Li, Li, Li! - a reading-out-loud program for children displaced by the 2010 earthquake - and to Dr. Paul Farmer's Partners In Health.
